GLOSSARY OF TERMS –
Creationism. A movement among Christian scientists that seeks to discover scientific evidence for the biblical account to creation.
Intelligent Design Theory. The theory in contemporary science that certain phenomena in cosmology, astronomy, and biology are best explained as the work of an intelligent being, perhaps God.
Metaphysical Naturalism. (Also called simply naturalism.) The worldview which claims that all that exist s is the natural, physical world.
Methodological Naturalism. A view about the nature of science, namely, that scientific explanations are limited to natural explanations only. That is, a scientific theory cannot appeal to supernatural causes and still be considered a scientific theory.
Scientism. The view that the scientific method is the only (or the most authoritative) source of knowledge.
Theistic Evolution. The view that evolution has occurred, but that it was guided or initiated by God.
